All foreign travelers to Ethiopia must have a visa. You must first register for the IGF 2022 via the UN Registration System https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-2022-registration. And wait for the approval or confirmation to be delivered to your email before applying for a visa. Typically, the approval procedure takes a few days.
When you receive your confirmation, please email it together with a scanned copy of your passport bio page to the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT) at igf2022@mint.gov.et The Ministry will then send you the necessary documents to apply for a visa online which are: an invitation letter and an application letter.
After you have all the above documents, please apply for a visa by following the next steps:
The process is straightforward, and you will secure your visa approval within 36 hours or less. If you are not able to process your visa online, please notify the government of Ethiopia for further support at igf2022@mint.gov.et.
The participant must register with the IGF accreditation system and obtain an acceptance letter/confirmation email to use the visa-on-arrival service. Following receipt of the approval letter, the participant submits a request for visa-on-arrival service via igf2022@mint.gov.et. along with a copy of their passport and confirmation email.
The confirmed participants must arrive with the necessary paperwork to obtain the on-arrival visa.
Participants should pay the service fee payment in cash. The Immigration and Citizenship Services (ICS) has prepared a separate booth at the airport for IGF participants.
Note: - We strongly advise participants to apply for their visas online to avoid standing in huge lines at the airport when applying for on-arrival visas.

Before you apply for your Journalist Visa - JV, you must first register for the IGF 2022 through the link; https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-2022-registration and select the “journalist” icon. Wait for the accreditation process confirmation to be sent to your email. The approval usually takes a few days.

You will apply online at https://www.evisa.gov.et/ You will receive the necessary steps once the process kicks off with your confirmed registration.

Materials must arrive 15 days prior to the start of the IGF on 28 November 2022.
Please share with the UNECA Shipping Unit copies of the shipping documents – air waybill, commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin – when you dispatch your cargo.
Kindly inform the Shipping Unit as soon as you know your plans, as to whether your materials will be re-shipped to their point of origin or stay in Addis Ababa following the IGF.

If you are travelling to the IGF with media equipment such as cameras, sound equipment or any professional media equipment, you MUST send the equipment list to igf2022media@mint.gov.et with the following information four working days prior to your arrival in the following format:
